The quietest creatures speak the loudest. I am a visual artist working mainly with photographs and models. My work can manifest itself in various media; a framed barite print, a document folder or even a sculpture. Sometimes I dive into something obsessively. It is interesting to probe a particular field of interest.

Photography is a medium that minimizes everything down to one flat base. Any literal layering, depth and scale is compressed into one layer. Knowing how to use a medium and finally discovering what the possibilities are is hugely exciting.

There is an investigative approach in my working method that is often combined with fiction and humour. In the publication “The Bureaucratic Tango of two steps forward and one step back” (2023), I play with the concept of ‘bureaucracy’ in its entirety. I do this, using metaphors and typical aesthetic features found in such systems. My latest work “A visit to the Arts & History Museum of Brussels” (2023) is a photobook. Behind my desk, I cut, pasted, crumpled and rephotographed photos and models of a museum. The situation here shows the imperialist drive to control things and the failure that followed. It was a relief to let go of control in the process.

The silence in works by Laurenz Berges and Gregor Schneider show me the impact an empty space can have. Even a void, can tell so much. Artists including; Roman Signer, Bas Jan Ader and Bruce Nauman, show that art absolutely does not have to be substantial. It is hidden in the small, just like poetry. During my artistic process, I usually don’t know exactly what I am doing. This is important to me as it can result in something fascinating and unexpected.
